Have Your Cake...

I really love to bake, but I seem to make the same recipes over and over so when I saw this recipe for Chocolate Raspberry Layer Cake I figured I would give it a shot. I know it's cheating but I really liked how it included box cake mix because honestly I have yet to find a chocolate cake recipe that come out as good as boxed mix. 

Overall, I was very pleased with the way the cake came out visually...I've never made a cake that looked like this and I even impressed myself by making the chocolate shavings on top! (Hint: Just use a vegetable peeler and a really good chocolate bar, I used Valrhona) I'm not sure I would ever make it again as it was more chocolate than I usually care for but it's definitely easy and looks impressive.

In The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki...Tiki Room!

Over the weekend my boyfriend and I decided to head out for a drink, since our first choice Sassafras was closed for a private event we headed over to Tiki Ti which our friends had been recommending to us for awhile now. 

Basically it's a tiny little bar that opened in 1961 that serves tons of different tropical drinks that you would probably only find somewhere in the Caribbean. We sort of ordered blindly since there weren't drink descriptions. Instead the menu is sorted by alcohol type and then a price so we quickly determined the higher the price the stronger the drink. Overall a good kitchy spot (Tiki memorabilia everywhere!) in LA and a fun place to grab a drink but beware....people smoke inside (which I thought wasn't allowed?) and it is cash only.

Finally got to check out the new Isabel Marant store that opened recently on Melrose Place. I was disappointed they didn't have a couple of SS13 items I wanted to check out in person but it'll just give me an excuse to go back again. 

The interior of the store fits in with the look of other Marant stores but with a California cool twist. It has a minimalistic rustic vibe that really showcases the intricate clothes while feeling almost like a mountain home not to mention amazing lighting!
